Monday Night with FranzFerdinand

Our humble abode can fit about 400 people. Outdoors, we can pull off a thousand. Still not enough room for a Death Cab/ Franz Ferdinand show. Centennial Hall got that one but as soon as Franz got off stage, those great Scots showed up for 80's night.

For those not in Tucson, Monday night at Hotel Congress is pretty huge. Between 9pm and 2am, about 600 people mill in & out of here. With 80 cent drink specials and Spyder spinning jams from the 80's , it's quite the party. The only downside is going to work Tuesday with a hangover, a small price to pay, I believe.

This particular Monday, with the Franz appearance, everyone was amped up from Spring Break and perhaps Spring Fever, Spring Cleaning, Spring Love, etc. Is it even officialy Spring yet? I have no idea. Anyhow, all the FF guys were pretty cool. They didn't bitch about the 23947320987 autographs or the pics they had to pose for. They just walked around, chatted it up, and drank like champs. Here's to poor hipsters buying drinks for rich rock stars. Oh, the irony.

At one point, some asshole decided to pull the "I know you're famous but I don't give a shit so I'll prove that by being a prick" card. He started talking shit to Alex, of FF, just saying ridiculous illogical comments so we had him kicked out. I mean, we're not about treating celebs like royalty but if you treat any of our bands or staff or patrons like crap, we'll show you the door. R-E-S-P-E-C-T that is all we ask for.

I really only had the chance to talk to Alex. First off, Scottish accents are mighty great. Second, his girlfriend is in a band that has rocked the Congress. Third, when Franz takes some chill time, he might be doing a bit of a solo tour.

Oh, yeah. The show. I didn't go, too much work to do her & still recovering from Mexico & life in general- but word on the street is that Franz kicked ass and DeathCab kinda put the people to sleep. I could have called that one. I listen to DC when I want to ponder life's meaning; not exactly a picker upper.

Til next time
